Our Mission: Honest, Download-Free Hardware Testing

LaptopXray was founded in 2026 by Vishal Jethwani, a hardware enthusiast and systems researcher based in Gujarat, India. Our goal is simple yet urgent: eliminate the need to download shady, ad-bloated native executables just to test whether your laptop keyboard works, your screen has dead pixels, or your microphone is recording cleanly.

When consumers in India and worldwide purchase second-hand laptops from platforms like OLX, Cashify, eBay, or local computer markets, they face a dangerous dilemma: trust seller claims without verification, or install untrusted third-party software on a machine that hasn't been properly wiped. LaptopXray solves this by delivering 75+ rigorous hardware diagnostic tools that run 100% inside your web browser using modern W3C Web APIs.

Meet Vishal Jethwani

Founder, Lead Hardware Tester & Developer • Gujarat, India

"Having tested hundreds of refurbished laptops, mechanical keyboards, and gaming displays across Indian repair hubs, I built LaptopXray so any student, engineer, or buyer can verify hardware integrity within two minutes before handing over cash."

Why LaptopXray Was Built

Existing hardware testing websites on the internet suffer from three pervasive flaws:

  • Thin, Fragmented Tools: Competitor sites typically provide 5 or 6 tools, burying essential tests inside inaccessible modal popups or spreading basic checks across dozens of disjointed domains.
  • Aggressive Intrusive Advertising: Many legacy sites sandwich tiny test buttons between deceitful "Download Now" banner ads, inducing accidental clicks and malware scares.
  • Zero Technical Depth: When a user discovers a flickering display or a bouncing mechanical switch, typical testing sites provide no explanation of what caused the issue or how to resolve it under manufacturer warranty.

Our Rigorous Testing & Verification Methodology

Every test on LaptopXray is developed from first principles using standardized browser APIs:

  • Display Testing: HTML5 Canvas, Fullscreen API, CSS Color Module Level 4, and HDR dynamic range media queries for subpixel inspection, response times, and color uniformity.
  • Input Testing: W3C KeyboardEvent.code, high-resolution performance.now() timestamps, PointerEvent coalesced updates, and the Gamepad API with analog axis circularity checks.
  • Audio & Acoustics: Web Audio API, StereoPannerNode, ChannelMergerNode, and real-time FFT frequency spectrum analysis for microphones, speakers, and subwoofers.
  • Stress & Compute: Multi-threaded Web Workers executing parallel prime calculation and matrix multiplication workloads to stress CPU cores and monitor thermal throttling without elevated privileges.

Verified Hardware Lab Machines

Before any diagnostic utility is pushed live, it is verified across reference hardware configurations in our Indian laboratory:

  • Dell Inspiron 15 (Windows 11): Primary test bed for integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, membrane chicklet keyboards, and Realtek audio drivers.
  • Apple MacBook Air M2 (macOS Sonoma / Safari): Reference machine for Retina display subpixel rendering, Cmd/Option keyboard modifiers, and core audio routing.
  • Lenovo ThinkPad E14 (Ubuntu Linux 24.04): Verification benchmark for open-source graphics drivers, trackpoint pointer events, and multi-core AMD Ryzen thermal stress.
  • Custom Desktop Test Bench (Nvidia RTX 4070 / Chrome & Firefox): High-refresh rate 240Hz OLED gaming monitor tests, 8000Hz polling rate mouse analysis, and mechanical switch chattering checks.

Our Commitment to User Privacy

We believe privacy is an absolute right, especially when hardware diagnostics require microphone or camera access. LaptopXray never transmits, records, or stores any video feed, audio stream, keystroke sequence, or hardware serial number on any remote server. All diagnostic processing occurs purely within your computer's local memory and terminates the moment you close the tab.
